"I joined LEAD in fall quarter of my freshmen year and immediately felt at home. My interests in law sparked at a young age upon hearing that an unknown assailant shot my grandfather, and my family could not afford an attorney to take the case to court. Thus, they could not get the justice they deserve. This experience inspired me to become a prosecuting attorney. I am particularly passionate about representing individuals with mental health concerns to ensure they are offered adequate rehabilitation rather than incarceration. In addition to serving as the Chairperson of LEAD, I am a research assistant under Dr. Heejung Kim in the Cultural Psychology Lab, a research assistant for Mr. Bill Felstiner, writing my honors thesis on the efficacy of mental health courts under the supervision of Dr. Laura Kalman, and working as a Peer Mentor for the Undergraduate Research & Creative Activities Office."
“Greetings my name is Jason Gonzalez and I am a 3rd year majoring in philosophy here and UCSB. My interests in this realm of study include metaphysics, epistemology, and philosophy of mind. I plan to pursue a path in the legal field with a focus in intellectual property. I joined lead in pursuit of likeminded individuals, and can honestly say I found much more than that. As external affairs chair I am passionate about reaching out to resources outside of campus and bringing them to our reach in order to become not only more competitive law school applicants, but more informed individuals as a whole."
